Captain Nick

Captain Nick is a South Florida native who has spent most of his life on the water. He graduated from Christopher Columbus High School (CCHS) and later earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business from Florida International University (FIU). Early in his career, he worked as a contractor aboard cruise ships, traveling extensively and experiencing the world by sea. Those years reinforced his passion for life on the water and inspired him to build a career centered around boating and sharing that lifestyle with others.

With 26 years of hands-on boating experience, Captain Nick has been operating boats since his teenage years throughout South Florida’s waterways. Over time, he became the go-to resource for family and friends seeking to learn how to boat safely and confidently, an experience that eventually led him to turn his passion into a profession.

In 2023, Captain Nick founded Miami Boating Lessons. He holds a USCG 25-Ton Master license with over three years of licensure, combining professional credentials with decades of real-world boating experience. He is First Aid and CPR certified and holds a PADI certification, underscoring his strong focus on safety, situational awareness, and confident decision-making on the water.

Captain Nick has extensive operating experience on single and twin outboard center consoles, as well as motor yachts ranging from 40 to 60 feet. This broad background allows him to tailor instruction to a wide variety of vessels and skill levels. His local expertise includes Miami, Biscayne Bay, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Florida Keys, and the Bahamas.

He believes South Florida is one of the most unique boating destinations in the world, offering year-round boating conditions, stunning waters, and an unmatched on-the-water lifestyle.

As both an instructor and business owner, Captain Nick is passionate about helping boaters build confidence, master essential skills, and enjoy the water safely, whether they are brand new to boating or looking to refine their abilities for everyday use or longer adventures.

Captain Nick is fluent in English and French and conversational in Spanish and German.
