Advanced lesson on your boat

Our 5-hour advanced private lesson is a comprehensive, hands-on training session conducted on your own boat with a USCG-licensed captain, designed for boaters looking to elevate their skills and confidence on the water. This extended session is ideal for operators of larger or twin-engine vessels, those venturing offshore, or anyone seeking advanced seamanship training. The lesson combines real-world practice at the marina and on open water, giving you the experience needed to handle complex situations safely and efficiently.

During the session, your captain will cover advanced navigation, radar operation, offshore techniques, and emergency preparedness, including a full man overboard drill to practice essential response skills. For those interested, there is also the option to incorporate night navigation, teaching you how to safely operate your vessel in low-light conditions using proper lighting, charts, and navigation instruments. Additional topics include close-quarters maneuvering, docking, anchoring, rules of the road, and radio communication, all customized to your vessel and experience level.

By the end of the 5-hour lesson, you’ll have gained the confidence, technical knowledge, and hands-on experience to safely operate your boat in offshore waters, at night, or in challenging conditions, ensuring you are prepared for a wide range of boating adventures.
